Changing Lives Through A Course in Miracles

As the title implies, A Course in Miracles is a teaching device. It teaches us what is real and what is unreal, and leads us to the direct experience of our own Inner Teacher.

The Course is arranged in three parts: a text, a workbook for students and a manual for teachers. The Text presents the concepts underlying the Course. The workbook contains 365 daily lessons that give students the opportunity to apply and experience the concepts on a practical level. The teacher’s manual is presented in a question and answer format, addressing typical questions that a student may ask; it also provides a clarification of terms used throughout the Course – acim stream soundcloud.

On How it All Began

The Course was written by Helen Schucman and Bill Thetford, two highly trained and successful Professors of Psychology at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. Helen was the scribe for the Course, writing down in shorthand the internal messages she received. Bill typed what Helen wrote. It took a total of seven years to complete A Course in Miracles, which was first published in 1976 in the United States. Helen wrote additional pamphlets. Her Song of Prayer was published in 1977 and The Gift of God in 1978.

Over the past 34 years, the popularity of A Course in Miracles has grown and spread worldwide. It has been translated into 18 different languages and more translations are in the works. Throughout the world, people gather with other like-minded students to read the Course together in order to better understand the Course’s message. In this era of electronic and social media, A Course in Miracles can be obtained in e-book format, on CD, and through iPhone Apps. You can interact with other Course students on Facebook, Yahoo Groups, Twitter, and numerous other websites.

When people use the lessons learned and the precepts of A Course In Miracles, they find that they come to a new understanding of forgiveness. They are able to study and learn why you hurt yourself and others when you do not forgive – a course in miracles apple podcast.

This is why it is so important that when another person hurts you, you must forgive. Often we hear someone say, “I can never forgive him/her for this.” Oh, but they must! The one who needs to forgive is affected just as much as the one who needs to be forgiven, if not more deeply! You can forgive the wrongdoer whether he asks for forgiveness or not. By doing so, the pain that the person caused you will be lifted from you and you can be freed from any anger and negative emotions. This will be the first of the miracles that is granted and obtained by the power of forgiveness learned from A Course In Miracles.

How Animated Cartoons Bring Characters to Life

Animated cartoons are successful in large part because of their ability to create an emotional connection between the viewers and the cartoon characters. The personalities, faults, and quirks that these cartoons weave into their characters make those characters winsome and engaging. In the hands of a skilled animator, even machines, animals, and household objects become characters with whom viewers can connect – kissasian. There are many reasons that animated cartoons are so effective at bringing characters to life. Following are a few of these reasons.

Animated cartoons visually depict personalities.

In non-animated productions, the characters’ realism and appeal rely mostly upon the dialogue and upon the actors’ ability to capture the personalities described within the script. In animated cartoons, the cartoon studio often creates this realism and appeal through the appearance of the characters. That is, the studio uses the appearance of the characters and the details in the scenes around them to express the characters’ personalities and foibles.

For instance, in some cases, soft, curved lines may be used to represent the gentleness (or even weakness) of a character. Small background details may give clues to the character’s personality. Other details, such as the shape of the body or the type of clothing the character wears can provide further information regarding their personality. With these physical clues in place, the animated cartoon character springs to life before they ever speak a word or take a step onscreen.

Animated cartoons create an emotional connection with the viewer.

Cartoon production often creates human or almost-human characters who appeal to audiences because they look like the audience. However, animated cartoons also often bring non-human characters to life (consider Simba from The Lion King and the candlestick Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast).

The reason that animated cartoons are such an effective medium for bringing characters of all kinds to life is that they possess a unique ability to highlight the qualities that those characters have in common with the viewer. The character design underlying these creations makes them so believable that viewers find themselves connecting at an emotional level with the animated cartoons.

One reason for this emotional connection is the cartoon studio’s ability to express the characters’ humanity through their appearance and actions. At times, this means imbuing a character (even a non-human one) with certain human features. In addition, animated cartoons often have facial expressions that convey human emotions. Take, for instance, Simba in The Lion King. He is carefully crafted to reveal mischievousness, surprise, sadness, and anger, all skillfully written into his lion-like features. The result is a character that displays human qualities and emotions that resonate with the audience.

Miracles Made Easy – The Four Types of Miracles and How To Create them in Your Life

Miracle A: Mini Miracle There are four types of miracles. You probably experience the first type frequently, without realizing it. This is the mini-miracle or the baby step miracle. These are daily events, such as finding a parking space right in front of Costco on Christmas Eve, for example. In another case, maybe you think about whom you need to speak with and they call — out of the blue. Last week I was wandering down the bread aisle at the supermarket, wondering when my son Anton’s basketball game was and I ran into another mom on the team who knew the answer right then.

Author Jean Shonoda Bolen says, “Synchronicity can pave the way for people coming together. By unraveling the circumstances through which two people meet to enter a significant relationship, the delicate, unseen hand of fate, destiny, synchronicity or underlying Tao can be discerned.” Simply put, she’s referring to this type of miracle – a course in miracles.

Perhaps you find the right book at the right time, as says mythologist William Irwin Thompson, “A university can provide you with a library, but what makes the book you are not looking for fall off the shelf and into your hands?”

When I was destitute, my miracles were simple, such as finding spare change hidden in my pockets when I had just run out of money for food. A miracle was getting a ride to and from school for my kids during the rainy season when we did not own umbrellas, raincoats or hats. I walked two to three miles a day in the chilly San Francisco rain. My close friend Lalo couldn’t bear to see me so beaten down, and he bought me a beat up, salvaged 1981 Volvo that spit fumes. The car became my Golden Red Chariot– my miracle car. It didn’t matter that the roof leaked and the car had no heat. It ran. We had transportation!

Thanksgiving and Christmas were celebrated, when we miraculously received gifts of turkey and trimmings. A neighbor knocked on my door with a made up story about winning an extra turkey at work. Right. A mother from the school handed me a gift certificate for a ready-made dinner, complete with stuffing. Believe me, you could never convince me that miracles don’t exist, because I experienced them even during the bleakest of moments.

What constitutes a miracle to one person may go unnoticed by another. A few cents for food and a beat up Volvo might be a curse to an affluent family, but to me, they were blessings in disguise. At the time, a simple turkey meant the world to me. So everyone will have a slightly different definition of what a miracle means to them personally..

It is easy to overlook or discount the little events as they occur. That’s why I call everything that is positive that comes my way a miracle. I never leave anything out, because I want a steady stream of wonderfully nice things happening to me 24/7.. Miracle B: The “Lucky” Miracle The second type of miracle is what some consider luck, good fortune or sheer coincidence. For instance, you may say that Sam Walton was lucky to have succeeded in creating Wal-Mart and Sam’s. I mean, several others had tried to do it and failed. It must have been luck or fate or an accident that he did it where others did not.

To become lucky, in the real sense, is to become purposeful, mindful, intuitive, listening to your answers and going with your own sense of rhythm towards a destination. I classify it as a miracle, because as you create this aura of winning, sometimes it appears as though the good luck occurs at just the right time. It might feel like divine intervention that saved your life. Was that luck or a miracle? Did God do it or did you?

Individuals who are consistently lucky are manifesting outwardly a disciplined and focused approach on the inside. They are usually following a quest, a voice, an intuitive gut feeling, and they are focused on seeing it through. They have created the mindset, the brew, and the soil for their miracle. Remember, the universe will send us what we ask for.

Two days ago, I stood behind a handsome younger man outside the bathroom on a Southwest Commuter Flight. Just that morning I had expressed a need to find raw foods. Three hours later I meet a man who runs a company that imports raw foods from third world countries and markets them to major natural food stores. Synchronicity of events occurs all the time, when you say to our friends, ‘I was just thinking of you, and here you are at Safeway at the exact precise moment I am.’

That we survived is a major miracle indeed. 2001 was the bleakest year in my entire life. The kids and I decided to not celebrate Christmas. We had no stomach for additional disappointments. My attorney asked me how I coped with losing everything and being reduced to food stamps and poverty. I had to tell him. I wrote him a letter. The letter became a three page double spaced 1000 word article. With a tremendous sense of freedom, I e-mailed the piece to six newspapers, three in California, and three in New York City, my birthplace.

Miracles Are Possible For Everyone – Strategies to Change Your Life and Overcome Challenges

So you want a miracle? You need a miracle. Perhaps this would be the perfect time for something miraculous to happen. Like a white bearded handsome God shining a light down on you, saying “Hello down there. I remember you. Here’s an olive branch with your lifeline. Hang on cause you are about to be rescued just as the crocodiles snap at your feet and the wolf is at your door.” Wouldn’t that be nice? A juicy ripe miracle every time we needed one. To be able to count on the dreams to be real, the fantasy a reality.

Before we get into the core of how to create miracles, I think it would be best to define the miracle itself and then go into ways to attract your miracles – what is a course in miracles.

According to the dictionary, a miracle is a wonderful thing, a remarkable example or specimen. The Latin word, miraculum, means to wonder or marvel. Major miracles are accompanied by extraordinary elements. But in its very basic definition, that’s all a miracle is. Something amazing and possibly out of the ordinary. Last week I overheard a man In line at the post office discussing what a miracle it was that he received this letter in three days. We use the word miracle to describe both the mundane and ordinary world, and the miraculous one where dreams do come true. You could go back to basics. It is a miracle that you are you at this particular time. Think back to the life you have led. What extraordinary events occurred to lead you to this book, this guide to catching your miracle wave?

The word miracle has been applied to

o Saints, healings, statues, wells
o Cleaning fluids
o Synchronistic events.
o Parking spaces
o Avoiding a near fatal crash
o Intuition
o Sudden insights
o The discovery of fire
o Light
o Children
o Falling in love. Lasting true love.
o Hope
o A helping hand
o Magic
o Winning the Lottery
o Getting an Education
o Being surrounded by loving families
o Food when you are starving
o The internet

So what exactly is a miracle? Each of you has a different idea of what a miracle is. Miracles to you might be a random act of God that happens to the lucky. For others, a miracle is an unexplainable act that no human could possibly accomplish alone. Or maybe you simply define a miracle as, “something that can never happen to me.” To become a saint in the Catholic Church you must have two documented miracles, such as turning a gallon of water into 1000 bottles of wine. Research into Church history reveals many priests had those types of skills. In fact levitation was so common in the Middle Ages, that it was forbidden to consider this act as a miracle. If your definition falls into one of these categories, or something similar, I am challenging you to set aside everything you’ve been told and consider that there’s something more to miracles that you’ve yet to learn. Your life is your personal miracle.

A miracle is not necessarily an unpredictable act of God. In truth, every one is a Miracle Maker whether they know it or not. For some of you though, you might be afraid to think of miracles as something that could happen to you because you have been told that your dreams are foolish and can’t come true. You have had the ability within you your entire life, but hidden deeply, not accessible.

Everyone is born with a mission, a destiny, a talent, and a very special gift. By tapping into the resources of your gift, you allow your vibration to shift into an intuitive mode. You become one with where you are going.

How to Find a Counselor

After you prioritize your preferences, consider the following ways to find the RIGHT counselor for you:

1. Word of mouth

This is probably the best way to find someone you can trust. If you are looking for a plumber, hairstylist, or mechanic, you probably ask someone you know for a recommendation. If they trust this person, then you probably feel that you can trust them too.

More people have been to a counselor than you might think. Don’t be afraid to ask.

Ask someone for a recommendation

If you are comfortable discussing your need for counseling, you can ask your friends, family, doctor, teachers at school, pastor, lawyer, neighbors, etc. and they may know someone personally – Counselor On-Call.

You will feel more comfortable if the person comes highly recommended from someone you know and trust. You may also be able to find out what the counselor is like, how they operate, what they cost, etc.

2. Use the Internet

If you are still using the Yellow Pages, you can find someone there also. But you will find more detailed information online, and it will be updated more frequently since the Yellow Pages only gets printed once per year. Ask someone to help you search online if you need help.

There are many resources available online. You can type in the word “counselor” and your city or city and state and see what results you get. Or be more specific and include the type of counseling, i.e. “anxiety counseling Dallas”. Then you will pull up counselors that specialize in your specific issue.

It is a good idea to research any counselor referrals you receive from your friends by going online and seeing if they have a website or more information about themselves.

Look at their pictures.

You may get a positive or negative feeling from a simple photograph. If you like their photograph, then read their biographical/educational information usually found in an “About Me” or “Bio” page. This will give you insight into their interests, values, education and personal experiences.

You may be more interested in their therapeutic approach or services offered. Most counselors will list their specialties, and whether they work with children, adolescents, adults or other special populations.

You will also be interested in finding out costs and hours of availability. Some counselors post their fees online. Most list whether or not they are in network with various insurance companies. You can also search your insurance company website to find counselors in network with your insurance plan, if that is an important priority for you.

I still recommend doing further research on those counselors in your insurance network. Just because they take your insurance doesn’t mean that they have experience in working with your problem. You may choose to pay out of pocket to see an expert.

On the website, they may list their hours. Some counselors work part time only in the evening or weekends. Some work only certain days of the week or have office hours in 2 locations. Others are full time. Some work 9-5. Others have Saturday hours. Some work early mornings, and other have later evening appointments available.

Healthcare Compliance? How Do I Know?

Healthcare Compliance is mandatory, but also so confusing. Providers today seem stuck with one of two choices; first, ignore compliance, or do as little training as possible in hopes of staying out of trouble, or second, dedicate enormous amounts of money and time to stay current. There doesn’t seem to be a third choice out there for providers to have their staff trained in current regulations, and not have to spend thousands of dollars to accomplish this. The following tips will allow you to realize there is another choice.

For the better part of my career, I’ve been working almost exclusively in healthcare compliance and government regulations where I’ve taken thousands of calls from healthcare professionals with different compliance related questions. The calls come from every state and from nearly every specialty. Some of my favorite’s questions include: “Do we need to burn used needles in the back-parking lot?” “Can HIPAA give a fine to my employee for smoking?” “Is it OK for me to draw my own blood?” Some of the questions were shocking and others just made me laugh, however, the most common question I receive is: “How do I know when I am compliant?” I’ve learned that what providers and their staff are really asking is “How do I know when I’ve done enough to avoid an audit or survive one it when it happens?”

Years of observation have taught me that a majority of those working in healthcare today view compliance as something to check off your list, or finish. If you view compliance this way, you’ve set yourself up for frustration. This frustration usually leads to ignoring or disregarding compliance, then mistakes, followed by audits and fines. Ignoring compliance will cost you. Some providers disregard compliance thinking that because some training took place years ago, they are still protected. Even if you took a couple of minutes to train a new hire, DO NOT make the mistake of thinking past training equals protection today – Healthcare Compliance Program.

Three major events usually trigger an audit. They are: injuries, state specific crackdowns, and complaints. Complaints are by far the audit-triggering leader, with the majority of complaints coming from your own employees. Training must remain current, and occur at least every year, especially if you have high turnover. A disgruntled employee is the best candidate to file a complaint against you.

The reality is you’re never done when it comes to compliance, BUT you can reach a point where you can be confident you’ve done enough to avoid most audits and survive one if it came to your way. Those who pay no attention to compliance because they have never been audited are typically the ones who receive the largest fines. To feel confident, you must establish a “foundation for protection.”

Whenever I get a call about a very detailed or complex compliance issue, I first try to determine what kind of foundation is in place. I do this because if the foundation isn’t in place, you have bigger problems than getting the answer to a complex question. This doesn’t mean you should ignore complex details that surround compliance- they can get you into trouble, but rather pay attention to them AFTER your foundation is in place. You wouldn’t install a stained-glass window onto a home before the foundation was secure. Here are three steps to help you determine if you have a secure foundation.

Effective Compliance Program Components

The Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has issued a voluntary Compliance Program Guidance for individual and group practices. The OIG created this program to prevent fraudulent conduct and reduce the number of erroneous claims submitted to Medicare and Medicaid. The OIG thinks that a healthcare provider can use internal controls to ensure adherence to federal program requirements. The OIG feels that implementing a compliance program shows that a practice is making good faith efforts to submit claims appropriately. They have compiled seven components of an effective compliance program.

* A practice should conduct regular reviews on policies and procedures to ensure they are up-to-date and complete. This benchmarking allows a practice to document the decrease or increase in paid and denied claims. Then, review internal processes to ensure that coding and documentation is being conducted properly – Nursing Home Attorney  Lawyer.

* Once internal reviews have pinpointed risk areas in a practice, a set of written “practice standards” should be developed and implemented. This will establish tighter internal controls to reduce errors and fraudulent claims.

* A practice should designate a Compliance Officer or contact who will be responsible for developing any corrective measures, if needed, for all compliance related areas.

* Training is an essential element of the Compliance Program. An appropriate education program includes elements of coding, billing, federal statutes, regulations, and aspects of the Program.

* If a practice detects a possible violation, it should determine how to respond to the offense and develop appropriate corrective initiatives. An example of a corrective action is returning any over-payments.

* Establishing open channels of communication between the physicians and compliance personnel helps to eliminate problems from occurring. This can be an informal function, such as the implementation of an “open door” policy.

* A practice should ensure that their employees understand the consequences of not following the Compliance Program. It is essential that a practice enforce disciplinary standards through guidelines that are explicitly stated.

Why Health Care Companies Are in Need of Health Care Law Firms

There are several reasons why health care companies utilize health care law firms. Due to the nature of the industry, agencies must secure legal representation to defend against certain claims and lawsuits. This can be in the form of class action suits, along with individual and even corporate claims. These specialized lawyers represent the providers in these cases. They also represent health professionals and organizations in regulatory and business matters. The latter helps ensure that all companies strictly comply with industry regulations and rules. In the event a particular product, service, or company offering is challenged, an attorney must step in to protect his or her clients – Doctors Lawyer.

At times, medical companies may even face investigations by governing bodies and law enforcement. While state and federal regulatory agencies are always present, these companies cannot rely on these bodies to come to their rescue. This is especially true if a particular provider has unknowingly overstepped certain boundaries. Even for companies that have intentionally committed a questionable act; they still have access to timely and effective legal representation services. These law firms also assist agencies involved in medical malpractice suits. This includes nursing facilities, and especially home care and hospice providers.

When an elderly family member is under hospice care, emotions are running at an all-time high. There are times when family members accuse the nurses of foul play, especially when the family member passes away. While their grief and anger is understandable, families that file lawsuits against caretakers is very common in the industry. As a result, home care and nursing agencies reach out to these law firms to protect their rights. This helps counter lawsuits from families and individuals, while ensuring the integrity of the company in question. The health care industry is incredibly intricate and complicated. To effectively preserve the company’s rights, legal representation is essential to tackle all legalities and compliances.

Whether you need hospital or Medicare lawyers, health care law firms are always available to assist you. These specialized firms also stay abreast on all the latest health related laws, which help protect health care companies and their cases. These highly dedicated and skilled attorneys can also prevent costly legal problems before they impact client businesses. These firms simply possess years of extensive industry experience, and know how to neutralize threats within time and budget. They are also trained in crisis response, which may include customer lawsuits, threats, or industry investigations. Without proper legal representation and defense, health care companies would face a litany of charges and fines. This, however, is if they were found guilty of wrongdoing in a court of law. Still, why take a chance when proper legal representatives are available to defend your company’s rights?
